The Art of Cheese

We love featuring local cheeses at events. The DC area has some of the nation’s most flavorful varieties. Here are a few tips when choosing accompaniments to serve along side your favorites. Blue-based cheeses such as Blue and Gorgonzola tend to be salty. To balance this out, pair it with fruit, figs and nuts. Soft cheeses such as Brie and Camembert pair well with fruit, especially green apples, walnuts, strawberries and pears. Semi-hard cheeses, such as cheddar, pair well with cranberries, grapes, cashews and apples. Chocolate goes especially well along side Swiss and Gruyere. Finally, a cheese display would not be complete without homemade bread and baguettes fresh from the kitchen.
